The Cost of (Not) having a Corporate Concierge: Latest trends in concierge benefits
An article featured in “Corporate Wellness” magazine on January 29, 2014 discusses “Voluntary Benefits” and the new “Generation Y or Millennials”. The author Dr. Ann D. Clark states they are our current generation of workforce and by 2025 they wil make up roughly 75% of the worlds workforce. She states “They are touchscreen-tapping, instant messaging multi-taskers who’ve grown up in a world of friending, treading, goggling and facebooking”. She also believes the line between work and personal life is definitely blurred. She continues “For companies trying to maintain a competitive edge they must become Millennial-friendly. The corner office, prestigious title and promises of a 5% annual raise are no longer incentives that speak to the growing millennial workforce. Investing in employee’s well-being and peronsal fulfillment is more imporatant than ever”.
The most important part of the article is this;
“Acting as a virtual personal assistant, a corporate concierge program combines Millennial’s three favorite things: it allows them to multi-task, produces instant results, and most importantly, improves the quality of their personal lives. Saving time, reducing stress, and improving retention turn into a major cost savings and productivity gains for employers, especially considering employees spend up to 2.25 hours a day on unavoidable personal tasks. Companies can rest assure that a concierge program will keep multi-generational employees’ happy and productive, but most importantly, that it keeps them”.
