Errands & Odds Unlimited is pleased to announce their new outreach project with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City. Owner Sheryl Crow called CEO/Executive Director Holly Buckendahl with an idea. She called it a piece of “clay” and asked Holly if she would brainstorm with her how to “Give Back” to RMHC. Why “Give Back”? Before the inception of Errands & Odds Unlimited Sheryl was the co-founder of “The Support Connection”. This company created a “Family Support” model for families whose child were diagnosed with a disability, primarily autism. This model was fostered by the help of Dr. Jean Ann Summers and the Institute for Human Development UMKC. The Support Connection teamed with Children’s Mercy Hospital Behavioral and Science Section and their Autism clinic. The TSC team would assist the parents through the process of the evaluation and connect families to resources and therapies in their community. It was quite a successful project.

Now for the “Give Back” part. The Support Connection was funded by donations, grants and different State agencies. Children’s Mercy Hospital Behavioral and Science Section had a fund raiser and all the monies collected were awarded to TSC to continue their work. TSC also wrote a grant and submitted it to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City. RMHC-KC graciously awarded TSC this grant and this supported their work with families at CHM until the end of the project.

Errands & Odds Unlimited now wants to give back to RMHC-KC in a creative way. Under the direction of Ariel Penner, Guest Relations Manager, the clay was formed into a project. With Errands & Odds Unlimited, family support background and concierge expertise they will support families again. Once a month a family will be selected to receive concierge support service’s while staying at RMH-KC. These services will be tailored to the needs of the family. As Ariel Penner and Owner Sheryl A Crow brainstormed, the list could be endless of the needs of a family while their child is staying at Children’s Mercy Hospital or other area hospitals. This is an exciting project and Errands & Odds Unlimited is excited to “Give Back”. We will keep you posted on what we expect to be some amazing outcomes!
